Explaining coronavirus to children

Explaining to children what is happening right now can be difficult. Some of these free resources may be helpful as you talk to your children.

This beautiful digital book 'Don't worry little bear' is a story to explain what covid is to young children and reassure them it will be ok. The book has been produced by Early Years Story Box to help young children through their uncertainty. 

For young people this information leaflet details what covid is and what we can do to prevent it along with links to useful resources. This has been produced by the Youth Empowerment Squad for young people across north east London

Prof. Sheila Hollins has produced this book for people with Learning Disabilities or for those who find pictures easier to understand to explain coronavirus. The book also includes a detailed list of further resources that may help with dealing with coronavirus and the challenges associated with this such as bereavement, mental health and social distancing. 

This booklet is for young children who have someone being cared for in an intensive care unit. It has colouring and things to do and provides simple and clear explanations about what happens in an intensive care unit and what to expect.
